On April 27 a final conference of the EU project “Development of Administrative Mechanisms in Support of Readmission of Migrants in the Russian Federation” took place in Moscow. The project duration was from September 2009 till April 2011.

The Head of the Citizenship Department of FMS of Russia greeted the participants with welcoming remarks. He noted the success of joint work on readmission direction and mentioned the contribution of the project to the development of readmission mechanisms in the Russian Federation, particularly in respect of the readmission of third country nationals and stateless persons. In particular, practical trainings and thematic meetings, methodological and informational materials developed within the project, carried out analytical work and proposed recommendations on further development of legal frameworks in the field of readmission, as well as work on strengthening the dialogue at the technical level between representatives of the competent authorities of the European Union MSs and the Russian Federation have been found useful.

Russia, China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On November 15, a working meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Yang Jiechi took place in Wuhan, China, on the sidelines of the 10th Russia-India-China Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.

The parties discussed questions pertaining to the development of Russian-Chinese relations and interaction in the formats of the UN Security Council, the Group of Twenty, BRIC, SCO, RIC and other multilateral associations. The ministers exchanged views on a number of topical global and regional problems, including conditions in Afghanistan, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, around the Iranian nuclear program, and others.

Based on the last year results, the Federal Migration Service of the Russian Federation reported a fourfold increase in the number of foreign citizens documented with work permits, with the total number of people granted work permits exceeding 2.1 million.

The Administrative rules on rendering the state service on delivery of documents resolving labour activity to foreign citizens in territory of the Russian Federation has started to operate.

The Federal Migration Service of Russia would like to inform you that an administrative order No. 11480, registered with the Ministry of Justice of Russia on 9 April 2008, on provision of governmental services related to issuance of documents authorizing labour activity of foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation, came into force on 24 August 2008.

If a foreign citizen has decided to come to the Russian Federation, it is necessary for him/her to know some principal rules of sojourn of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation.
We ask to take this information in a most responsible way. The success of a foreign citizen's trip may depend upon it.
Since January 2007, in accordance with the Federal Law on Migration Registration of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons and by the Governmental Regulation of the Russian Federation on Approving the Rules of Exercising the Migration Registration of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Russian Federation, the registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons at the place of sojourn is annulled and the migration registration of foreign citizens at the place of sojourn in the Russian Federation is introduced instead.
